Alright, so I finally finished my character demo. I originally had a skit in there involving a gruff deep voiced lunch-lady (ex: Doctor Girlfriend [Venture Brothers]) and my normal voice. But, once I got in the studio it turned out that the way I had written it was too tongue twisting. So, rather than taking several minutes to rewrite it I, luckily, had written an alternate character for that voice, which I did use. But, now my character demo does not have a sample of my normal voice, which is needed and wanted by most (if not all) Casting Directors. So, I need to get back in the studio for that jazz.
But, I've recently learned that a buddies Dad has a few connections to some production companies here in town. So, *fist pump*.
Oh, also bought a DVD called 'Adventures in Voice Acting.' Which I recommend to anyone wanting to get into the 'biz.' I knew about 70% of the topics, but there were some important things I didn't know. Such as, scheduling. Mind you, this DVD is about animé dubs, which I'd rather steer clear from, if given the choice. But, scheduling, for an animé voice talent pretty much fills up a month, but the next month is completely blank. It's a very 'in the now' career, it seems. Plus, they don't make as much as actual cartoon voice talents. From what I've heard, it's because it's dubbing over the original track. It's like re[ainting the Mona Lisa, it's not the original and not worth the same. *shrug* My hearts in original characters, anyway. But, I know beggars can't be choosers.

Disney...
Several months ago my mother decided that she would give all of our Disney films, on VHS, to Goodwill, on the grounds that nobody cared.
I have searched every Goodwill, Thrift Store and Antique Store looking for replacements. I think I have three copies of the Rescuers Down Under...
"Yeah Mom, please throw out the inspiration for my life's work. Tch! Those old things? Ancient and redundant. I want the restored versions with shitty songs that didn't make it into the original theatrical version, cause it was shitty then!"
Love her... but damn...

Goals for June
Set a lot of goals for June. Going to Nashville this weekend and going to try and contact a woman about a voice workshop. See how that goes. I don't have plans so I should have the time to get that accomplished.

Advanced Studies
I recently started taking an "Advanced Scene Study" class at the local Theater. My teacher is an Ex-teacher at the local University, so she's "bonified." Her name is Josie something or other. x_x I can't remember. But, she's incredibly good. She reminds me, strangely, of Angela Lansbury, just a bit more mouthy, or "Cheeky" as Angela Lansbury might say.
So, I THINK I have an assignment to look through several plays and find some monologues, but I'm not sure. Cause the wording made it sound like we'd be doing that some time later and not this week. So I need to find a way to get Josie's number and call, I guess.
More to come, surely...

Stir Crazy
Got my mic in. Now I just need the hundred dollar mixing board that'll attach to my computer so I can use it. -_-' Oh, well, I knew this wasn't going to be cheap getting into this.
In other news: acting classes are going well. I'm enrolled in a stage acting class in the local theatre. I like the teacher. I like the environment. In fact I should be learning my lines right now. Teehee. My dedication to live performances could be better. Luckily, I have a small amount of lines that don't require an excess amount of effort. Most of it is rebuttles too, so it should be EVEN easier cause I get to work off the girl more than anything.
Friends are talking of moving to California and I've been extremely moody the past few days. Thinking of taking the plunge and moving out there myself... I wanted to stay in the area and cut a demo and get my name out... I might do that... I might not... I dunno... things have been giving me the blues lately. It won't be for a good while before I do move IF I move... I need to talk to Chris Malone, the DJ here, and finish what have of my demo. I've got new material I want to add to it. Rrrg! Life!

Eaugh....
Well, today sucks...
Just checked my e-mail to find that the video game project that I got the role for was canceled... The e-mail didn't say specifically why it had been canceled, but it did say that I among others would be contacted first about any NEW roles in the near future. Whether or not that was just to appease me and the other actors I'm not sure. *shrug*
In other news I just ordered a new microphone. A dynamic to replace my condenser. I'm hoping it comes with all its cords. x_x But, it should help take down some of the static and background noise in my sessions.

"Get It!"
Today, I got on my computer and checked my e-mails to see I had, I believe, four new ones. Two were from the Director of the game project I mentioned in my last blog. (I think) I learned I had got the part as the secondary lead role in a video game. Cha-ching! So, I'm happy. I re-recorded the parts I needed, plus the new lines. That's it for the day.
I need some money for a new microphone. (More of a note to myself than anything)
